A tradition during the mid-autumn festival is 猜灯谜, or solving riddles which are written on lanterns. Many riddles take the form of guessing a single Chinese character, and this form of riddle is unique to Chinese because the language uses pictograms instead of vowels and consonants. Hence these are riddles that you cannot translate to other languages!
